Cox Media Group Atlanta is looking for a Program Director for WALR – Kiss 104.1 Atlanta’s R&B. The Kiss 104.1 Program Director will be responsible for working with the strategic team to develop and execute the strategy for the station and brand. The individual must have an intimate understanding of the brand's 25-54 African American life group and be able to focus the programming and design to that audience’s evolving desires and habits.
The Program Director will be responsible for leading and/or collaborating with other departments on all aspects of the radio station including on-air content, events, promotions, contesting, and digital presence. Qualified applicants will have proven leadership and management skills, strategic thinking skills and the ability to communicate a clear vision while motivating and inspiring those around them. Experience with talent coaching, event management, image copy writing, a deep knowledge and understanding of branding/imaging and understanding effective digital engagement are required.
Applicants should have at least five years of programming experience in a top 50 market, understand PPM audience measurement, FCC rules and regulations, and will have the proven ability to work hand-in-hand with the sales department to develop new and existing business and programming opportunities.
•Lead a highly-talented air staff; ability to coach air talent, including the ability to communicate the goals, structure and execution of the station formatics.
•Collaborate with strategic team to formulate and execute strategies. Will work closely with station’s VP/MM, company’s VP of Programming and Format Leader on execution of brand strategies.
•Create and write compelling imaging that reflects the station’s strategic direction.
•Responsible for station operations 24/7/365.
•Hire and retain top-level full-time and part-time air talent.
•Collaborate with CMG Atlanta’s Digital Content Manager on oversight of all station digital platforms, such as website content, social media, station app and e-mail database.
•Collaborate with CMG Atlanta’s Promotions Director on execution of contests, sweepstakes and creating effective high-profile promotional / marketing campaigns for the station.
•Planning and oversight of station research.
•Work closely with other cluster and group Program Directors to achieve CMG Atlanta goals.
•Minimum 5 years of programming management experience in a top 50 market with experience in Urban Adult Contemporary.
•Track record of success in PPM ratings and revenue. Proficiency in interpreting ratings data.
•Track record of PPM success with a content driven morning show
•Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent interpersonal skills.
•Computer skills for audio delivery and automations systems, such as Wide Orbit, Adobe Audition etc.
•Extensive digital experience with station web sites, social media, and mobile.
•On-air experience, and experience operating all on-air and production equipment.
•Available as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
