The Inside Sales Manager will be responsible for executing strategies in cooperation with, and for the benefit of, all CMG Newspapers to support the growth of local advertising revenue. The Inside Sales Manager will manage people across four CMG newspaper markets to meet or exceed assigned revenue and sales initiative goals. They will coordinate with and supplement the sales initiatives of the Outside Sales teams in all CMG Newspaper markets. Areas of responsibility will include new business development, special project sales, lead generation for Outside Sales teams, small account retention, and Classified product sales and service.
Their core responsibility will be to lead, manage, and train a sales team to provide excellent customer service, and exceed established revenue goals in all CMG Newspaper markets.
This position will provide outstanding customer service and will advise the Inside Sales Director on opportunities and challenges facing the sales team. Their responsibility may include all products and services offered by CMG Newspapers including print, digital, preprint, Classified, creative and agency services.
The individual will be an experienced telephone sales leader with outstanding communication skills, ability to lead, develop, and grow a team in a high-pressure environment, and have expertise in CMG print and digital products.

  1. In coordination with all CMG Newspaper markets achieve assigned sales objectives
  2. Implement business rules and best practices for Inside Sales to work cooperatively with Outside Sales in all CMG Newspaper markets
  3. Achieve goals for teams and individuals, and monitor staff performance
  4. Deploy resources, and execute plans to maximize revenue for print, digital, and self-service portals, while providing an outstanding customer experience
  5. Execute initiatives that leverage internal customer records, external intelligence, our CRM platform, and B2B marketing which result in local advertising revenue growth

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in an inside sales environment responsible for revenue generation with leadership responsibilities.
  • Outbound telephone sales, customer retention, and data-based selling
  • Inbound telephone sales management
  • Deep and practical knowledge of digital marketing and advertising
  • Experience in selling and managing print and online Classified advertising products and services
  • Experience in using market research to impact advertising revenue
  • Excellent proven communication and decision making skills
  • Proven consultative sales and sales presentation skills
  • Salesforce or CRM campaign management knowledge and implementation
  • Must have a proven track record of establishing strong internal relationships with a sales team spread over multiple offices
  • Must have knowledge in local media advertising and local competitive strategies
  • Positive people management experience in high-pressure environment

Working knowledge of  Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and CMG Advertising operating systems

Will interface with various departments within CMG spread over multiple markets. Will have to work cooperatively with other advertising sales teams throughout CMG. Will also work with support departments and will interface with vendor partners as needed.
