Digital Content Manager

WHBQ is looking for a Digital Content Manager who can provide the leadership needed to continue developing our aggressive digital strategies.  You may be the right person if you:  are a self-starter who knows how to motivate a team, understands how to read metrics and utilize the information to improve digital delivery, and is constantly innovating and planning for digital growth.  A well-developed sense of editorial judgement is needed as a key member of the news management team.

An understanding of HTML coding, content publishing systems and the inner workings of social media platforms are key skills this leader must possess.

  • Oversees design and functionality of all digital products
  • Understands and utilizes metrics to maximize growth on all platforms
  • Hires, recruits and develops digital team members
  • Creates and posts content to station website and apps
  • Creates strategy behind outreach products such as text messages and push alerts and oversees execution by team
  • Develops posting strategies on social media platforms to maximize engagement
  • Works to develop strategies which effectively move digital audience to broadcast
  • Implements sales initiatives as needed    
  • Responsible for Creation of long term growth plans and planning in advance for big events and opportunities


  • Previous success growing website, mobile and social media views/visits/engagement is essential
  • Ability to improve digital performance by analyzing metrics 
  • Experience working on digital platforms in an active, successful newsroom- at least 2 years minumum
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred
