This role will be responsible for accelerating revenue growth for CMG Tulsa’s emerging advertising solutions by implementing highly efficient workflow processes and campaign optimization. This role will lead and manage a team of people capable of delivering superior value to both advertising and internal clients. Success in this role will require a combination of operational leadership, strategic thinking, analytical problem solving, deep product knowledge and consultative skills. Cross-functional collaboration will be of paramount importance as this highly-visible role must partner successfully with Sales, Product Management, Digital, Engineering, ITS, Content, Finance and corporate teams.

Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities:

The Manager, Traffic & Optimization has responsibility for the overall direction and daily operation of radio and TV team servicing all CMG properties. This role will explore and provide cohesive business practices, will focus on resource efficiency and will help determine operational structures to support continued revenue growth.
The manager has responsibility for directly or indirectly hiring, training and managing personnel. This individual will be an experienced leader with outstanding communication skills, ability to create and implement strategic plans, and ensure that service level objectives are met.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversees teams responsible for executing advertising campaigns: High level tasks performed by this team include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for executing and optimizing all advertising campaigns for tv & radio
  • Responsible for inventory, yield and rate management across media systems in order to retain profitability
  • Responsible for detailed reporting for use by media consultants and managers
  • Manages and supports national sales business for tv and radio campaigns including media planning, campaign fulfillment and billing 
  • Manages local and national remnant strategies to best utilize available inventory and increase incremental revenue
Performance management & communication:
  • Recruits, coaches and develops staff
  • Sets goals, metrics and performance standards for the business unit
  • Develops and implements tactics for achieving metrics/goals
  • Communicates effectively to ensure strategic alignment, provides updates, handles escalated issues as necessary
  • Provides/coordinates system and workflow training as necessary
  • Gathers information to evaluate current work processes in order to determine the flow of work, time requirements and costs
Strategic business planning and reporting:
  • Develops & implements business plans to achieve results
  • Develops strategies and processes that improve productivity, efficiency and accuracy
  • Monitors and reports on team results
  • Stays abreast of best practices and anticipates customer needs
  • Evaluates and improves product and service offerings and leads change as needed
  • Identifies, recommends and manages implementation of tools and systems that improve operational efficiency, where relevant
  • Works closely with the sales staff to assure client needs are met and that departmental and organizational goals align
  • Optimizes revenue and inventory in order to reduce cost, increase profit and streamline operations
  • Works with corporate on system upgrades
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience: 3-5 years leadership experience, traffic experience required
  • Knowledge of CMG Tulsa systems including Wide Orbit, Media Sales, and other workflow systems
  • Outstanding computer skills including solid knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Strong process management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – ability to communicate with all levels of leadership
  • Strong focus on teamwork and ability to manage relationships across multiple departments and market locations
  • Ability to use research and analysis to measure the success of projects, and to make recommendations based on data
  • Clear understanding of CMG Tulsa business and products
