General Assignment Reporter WSB-TV

Job Description:

  • Develops, writes, produces and presents News stories on television, the web and mobile.

Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise stories by developing sources and contacts.
  • Write and produce news stories for television, web, and mobile,   Make creative use of live technology to help tell a story.
  • Understand and implement station's research-based goals. 
  • Achieve measurable performance goals (enterprise stories, active live shots, process story- telling, etc); utilize technology (i-phones, laptop computer, mobile cameras, social media etc) in news gathering process; meet deadlines; work with managers and station coaches/consultants to achieve performance goals; make public appearances for station.
  • Schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.  Actively and responsibly participates in social media to extend station brand.

Qualifications



  • Must have strong writing and editorial skills; professional, smooth on camera delivery;
  • ability to ad-lib in breaking news situations;
  • ability to make quick decisions and to turn multiple stories in a day when necessary;
  • ability to develop sources and build relationships with newsmakers in order to generate stories;
  • ability to meet deadlines; computer-based reporting skills;
  • passion and enthusiasm for the job;
  • strong communication skills; willingness to work overtime when necessary; high ethical standards. 
  • Must be a team player. 
  • College degree, minimum 5 years’ experience in medium to large television markets.
